America -is- exceptional. Don't you forget it.
America is exceptional.  I intend to keep that way.  Are you with me?

We are a nation bound together by our common love of life, liberty and property.  These are the things that we all pursue in our ways and they must be protected.

We collectively recognize that our rights are inherent.  That for them to be anything else would mean that "might makes right."  Whoever gives the rights may take them away.  When a government begins to give rights, we must beware of what they will then try to take away.

We fought and won a war against a massive foreign power (Great Britain).  Not because we hated them.  But because they did not love us as one of their own.  We were treated like bastard children.  Our money, land and sons were stolen from us.  We fought back.

We fought through difficult times of great national crisis.  We expanded the franchise of civic participation to all citizens.  Terrible national disagreements did not, in the end, tear apart our country.  Rather, the United States stands today stronger and more rightfully proud than ever before.

Immigrants still legally flock to our nation daily.  Alexander Hamilton, Albert Einstein, Andrew Carnegie, Charlie Chaplin, Bob Hope, Henry Kissinger, Madeleine Albright and many others have come here because they believed that America was the best place for their hopes to become realities.  That says nothing of the many children of immigrants that have done great things.

It is a certainty; America attracts people like no other land.

There are those who would tell us that America is no more exceptional than Germany is to a German or India to and Indian.  They would do well to remember that those Germans and Indians, in all likelihood, would like to live in America.

We truly are exceptional.  I plan on keeping it that way.
